IND v BAN 2024: Indian cricket fraternity lauds India's emphatic 7-wicket win over Bangladesh in 1st T20I

The second T20I will be played in Delhi on October 9.

Varun and Arshdeep picked three wicket each | GettyIndian team started their 3-match T20I series against Bangladesh with an emphatic win in the first match that was played at the Shrimant Madhavrao Scindia Cricket Stadium, Gwalior on October 6, 2024.

India won the toss and chose to bowl first. Nitish Reddy and Mayank Yadav made their India T20I debuts, while Varun Chakravarthy made his India return after 3 years.

Arshdeep Singh gave India two quick breakthroughs by removing both the openers for single-digit scores. Despite trying to force the pace, Bangladesh batters found it hard against quality Indian bowling.

Najmul Hossain Shanto (29), and Mehidy Hasan Miraz (35*) were the main run-getters as Bangladesh posted 127 runs on the board. For India, Arshdeep Singh picked 3/14, while Varun picked 3/31. Mayank Yadav impressed with his pace in his first outing for India and had figures of 1/21 including a maiden over.

While Abhishek Sharma was tragically run out for 16 runs, Sanju Samson contnued the breakneck pace of scoring runs, scoring 29 in 19 balls. Suryakumar Yadav made 29 as well from 14 balls, but it was Hardik Pandya, the ex-skipper who shined with the bat.

He hammered 39* in 16 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes as India romped home in 11.5 overs with 7 wickets in hand. Arshdeep Singh was named Player of the Match.

India go 1-0 up in the T20I series with the next match to be played in Delhi on October 9.

The Indian cricket fraternity was all praises for the brilliant Indian performance both with the ball and bat against Bangladesh. They took to social media platform X and lauded the Men in Blue side.
