IND v BAN 2024: WATCH- ‘Helmet pe bhi LBW lenge’- Rishabh Pant’s hilarious sledge about Mominul Haque’s height

Bangladesh ended day one on 107/3 after being asked to bat first in 2nd Test in Kanpur.

Rishabh Pant also helped Ashwin scalp Shanto's wicket | XRishabh Pant was at his vocal best during the rain-affected day one of the second Test between India and Bangladesh. The match is being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur from September 27, 2024 onwards.

Rain and a wet outfield led to a delayed start of the day’s play. Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bowl first. India came into the game with an unchanged XI, while Bangladesh made two changes. Khaled Ahmed and Taijul Islam have replaced Nahid Rana and Taskin Ahmed in the playing XI.

Akash Deep gave India two early inroads as he got Zakir Hasan for a duck and Shadman Islam fell for 24 runs. However, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and experienced Mominul Haque stabilized the innings with a 51-run stand for the third wicket.

During this stand, the Indians did their best to sledge and distract the concentration of the two batters and Rishabh Pant came up with a hilarious comment during Mominul Haque’s batting as he mentioned that they could get him out lbw even if the ball hit on his helmet.

The incident took place in the 33rd over of Bangladesh innings as Haque was facing Ravichandran Ashwin. Pant told Ashwin that he could get an LBW dismissal even if the ball hits Haque’s helmet, probably dig at the short stature of the ex-Bangladesh captain.

Idhar se lbw le sakte hai helmet se. Helmet se ek lbw le sakte hai bhai. (We can get him out lbw even on the helmet),” Pant could be heard saying on the stump mic.

Not only this, but Rishabh Pant’s keen observation helped R Ashwin achieve a huge record as well on day one. Bangladesh captain Shanto's dismissal came after Rishabh Pant advised R Ashwin on a bowling strategy.

Pant suggested to Ashwin, "Ash bhai halka sa thoda aagae daalna padega," during his spell against Shanto.

Ashwin heeded Pant’s advice and bowled the next ball a bit fuller and Shanto prodded at the ball, which missed his bat and hit his pads. Ashwin appealed and the umpire gave him out. This wicket helped Ashwin set the record for taking the most wickets by an Indian bowler in Asia.
