India bowling coach Morne Morkel was very happy with the performance of the Indian bowlers, especially Jasprit Bumrah and Akash Deep. Morkel was captured by cameras with a broad smile for most of Bangladesh's batting innings.
India was bundled out for 376 runs early on day 2 with Hasan Mahmud taking 5/83. R Ashwin made 113 and added 199 runs for the 7th wicket with Ravindra Jadeja (86).
In response, Bangladesh lost their first wicket in the first over itself, in the form of Shadman Islam, who was bowled by Jasprit Bumrah.
Akash Deep soon joined the party, taking back-to-back wickets to severely deplete the Bangladesh batting lineup. Siraj exacerbated the visitors' troubles by removing skipper Najmul Hasan Shanto shortly after lunch, while Bumrah delivered another blow by dismissing veteran Mushfiqur Rahim.
Bangladesh was down to 40 for 5 when former captain Shakib Al Hasan and wicketkeeper-batsman Litton Das put on a 51-run stand for the sixth wicket. That's when Ravindra Jadeja entered the fray and ended the partnership by dismissing both set batters.
Bumrah and Siraj then brought a swift end to Bangladesh's innings at 149, with Bumrah taking 4/50 and Akash Deep and Siraj taking two scalps each.
Morkel was the happiest man in the Indian dressing room, as his coaching career with Team India began on a positive note.
