Many fans have tried to get close to the cricketer to get a selfie or autograph. Some have gone to extremes to get a glimpse of their favorite cricketer.

One such fan was jumped the barricades in the Holkar Stadium in Indore where India played Afghanistan in the second T20I of the ongoing series and managed to not only reach near Virat Kohli, but also hug him.

The incident saw a major security breach after the fan managed to reach Virat Kohli, who was fielding near the boundary and touched his feet and hugged him. Then the security did their work and removed the intruder from the ground.

The fan was later detained by the police and was questioned by them. An officer explained that the man, apparently a fervent Virat Kohli fan, entered the stadium with a valid ticket and then climbed the fence of the spectators' gallery in an attempt to meet the player.

While it was reported that further steps would be taken, it turns out that the man was released.

In a viral video on social media, the fan was welcomed back at his home with garlands and received a stunning reception on his return.
