The second ODI between India and West Indies saw Kuldeep Yadav creating history as India defended 387 runs in Vizag. With the series on the line, the Men in Blue came out all guns blazing after being put to bat by Pollard after winning the toss.
During the West Indies chase, Kuldeep Yadav became the first Indian to take two hat-tricks at the international level on Wednesday at Vishakhapatnam. He achieved the feat in the 33rd over of the match, as he removed West Indies opener Shai Hope, all-rounder Jason Holder and fast bowler Alzarri Joseph. He had earlier taken a hat-trick against Australia in Eden Gardens in 2017.
Meanwhile, this was the fifth hat-trick for an Indian bowler in ODIs. Chetan Sharma, Kapil Dev, and Mohammed Shami are other bowlers with hat-tricks in ODI cricket for India.

The 25-year-old finished his spell with three wickets for 52 runs in his quota of 10 overs. He joined the likes of Wasim Akram, Saqlain Mushtaq, Chaminda Vaas, and Trent Boult, who have two hat-tricks in ODIs, while Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga is the only bowler with three such feats in his ODI career, which includes 4 wickets in 4 balls achievement against South Africa in 2007 World Cup.
The year 2019 saw four hat-tricks by Indian bowlers, which started with Mohammad Shami against Afghanistan in 2019 World Cup, Jasprit Bumrah against the West Indies in the Antigua Test, Deepak Chahar against Bangladesh in T20Is and now Kuldeep’s brilliance in the Vizag ODI.
