India pulled off a comfortable win over West Indies in the first ODI in Guwahati of the five-match series. India had won the toss and chose to field first.
Kieran Powell (51) and Shimron Hetmyer (106 in 78 balls) took Windies to 322/8 with Yuzvendra Chahal picking 3/41 and Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami picking 2 wickets each.
India required 323 runs to win and Shikhar Dhawan fell for 4 runs to debutant Oshane Thomas with 10 runs on the board. But then Virat Kohli (140 in 107 balls) and Rohit Sharma (152* in 117 balls) added 246 runs for the second wicket and wreaked havoc on Windies bowling as Guwahati crowd saw sixes rain upon them by Kohli and Rohit.
India won the match by 8 wickets with Rohit Sharma hitting a six for the victory in the 43rd over and took a 1-0 lead in the 5-match series.
Twitter was abuzz as Virat and Rohit took Windies bowlers to cleaners and we have some tweets from cricket fraternity for you.

Remember Tony Greig once said, there is Tendulkar, then there is daylight then there is the rest. It’s the sane with Kohli now, there is Kohli, then daylight, then the rest. Unreal Consistency #IndvWI

Indian cricket so fortunate to have one batsman every generation since the 70s to have extra ordinary ability and insatiable hunger for runs. Virat is one for this generation.
