With his batting style resembling them a touch, there have been widespread comparisons of India's young batting sensation - Prithvi Shaw, with the might of Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag and Brian Lara. 

Shaw, who has started off his Test career in a great fashion earning man of the series award for his dominating performance in the just-concluded two-match series against West Indies, has all the shots in the book and gives a genuine impression of Sehwag, when he plays through the off-side without using his feet too much, he has an exaggerated backlift like Lara and he is, much like Sachin Tendulkar was, a child prodigy. 

But, when the Prince of Trinidad - Brian Lara, was asked about the similarities in an interview with DNA, the batting great replied, "First of all, Prithvi is a right-hander and he is more of a mix of Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag," he stressed, "I remember when I was 18, I was not as powerful as he is. Also, the way we were accustomed to bat was very different back in those days."

"Prithvi strikes the ball very well and looks a very good player, very solid, somebody who has a great love and passion for the game," he said, "I see in him a great appetite to learn and that is the most important thing as no matter how much talent you possess, you must keep learning and he has that humbleness. I know he will keep improving."

While West Indies gave a fight to the hosts at Hyderabad, they were still very heavily beaten in both the Tests. This has raised genuine question marks over the competitiveness that can be expected from the limited-overs leg of the tour.

Talking about this, Lara said, "All depends on the players and the selectors. In the 50-over game it will be difficult for West Indies. India were the favourites even in England, so you can imagine playing them in their home conditions will be very tough for our boys," adding, "but I would like to see the fight they put up, some margin of improvement from game one to game five in the one-dayers," he continued, "Even in T20s India are favourites, but here we also have our share of success as we have won two World Cups. I believe in the possibility of West Indies winning it," and signed off. 

The first ODI at Guwahati starts on Sunday, October 21.
