IND v SL 2020: Kohli moves up to 9th in ICC T20I batting rankings; Rahul retains 6th spot

KL Rahul | AFP KL Rahul retained sixth position while his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan and skipper Virat Kohli moved a spot forward each in the latest ICC T20I batting rankings following their contribution in India's 2-0 series victory over Sri Lanka. 

The highest-ranked Indian batsman, Rahul, gained 26 points for scoring 99 runs in two innings at a strike-rate of 145.59, including knocks of 45 and 54 and is now with 760 rating points, which is just six rating points behind Australia's Glenn Maxwell.

Kohli is 9th in the table and Dhawan 15th; the Indian captain took his team past the finish line in Indore before playing another decent innings in Pune and his Delhi friend made scores of 32 and 52, showing good signs of return to form. 

Middle-order batsman Manish Pandey played only one game in the series but for scoring a useful 31 not out, he advanced four places to be ranked 70th in the list that Pakistan's Babar Azam tops. 

In the bowling department, "Player-of-the-Series" Navdeep Saini took a giant leap of 146 places to be ranked 98th and Shardul Thakur found himself six spots ahead Saini at 92nd after taking five wickets apiece in the series. In the list where Afghanistan leg-spinner Rashid Khan reigns supreme, spearhead Jasprit Bumrah also gained eight places to reach the 39th position. 

As far team rankings are concerned, India gained two points but remains in the fifth position with 260 points whereas Sri Lanka lost two points and now has 236 rating points, equal to Afghanistan, at eighth position. 

India next plays T20Is on the tour of New Zealand starting January 24.
