Team India’s preparation for the T20 World Cup seems to be on the right track as the Men in Blue registered a thumping 78-run victory over Sri Lanka in the third T20I in Pune on Friday (January 10).

By virtue of this win, India also clinched the three-match series 2-0 with the first T20I being abandoned due to wet patches on the pitch after rain.

Asked to bat first, the hosts posted a mammoth 201/6 in 20 overs on the back of dazzling half-centuries from KL Rahul (54 off 36 balls) and Shikhar Dhawan (52 off 36 balls). The likes of Manish Pandey (31* off 18 balls), Virat Kohli (26 off 17 balls) and Shardul Thakur (22* off 8 balls) also chipped in with the bat.

In reply, the visitors got bundled out for 123 in 15.5 overs. Apart from Angelo Mathews (31 off 20 balls) and Dhananjaya de Silva (57 off 36 balls), none of the Sri Lankan batsmen managed to reach the double digit-mark.

Navdeep Saini was the star with the ball for India, claiming 3 for 28 in his four overs while Shardul Thakur (2/19) and Washington Sundar (2/37) picked up two scalps each. Jasprit Bumrah too impressed with the ball as he conceded just 5 runs in his two overs and took a wicket.

The members of Indian cricket team were pretty thrilled and proud after the series victory. They took to micro-blogging site Twitter to rejoice their success.
