IND v SL 2020: WATCH - Despite the competition, we three are very good friends, says Shikhar Dhawan

With Dhawan back in form, Indian management has a problem of plenty.

KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan | Twitter Shikhar Dhawan looked really good as he scored a superb half century in the third T20I against Sri Lanka at Pune and gave Indian selectors a problem of plenty. With Dhawan back in form the selectors have to choose from three in-form openers Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Dhawan himself.

I am very happy with the way me and Rahul started the innings today. We both gave a good start to the team. I was playing good even in the last match when I scored 30 odd runs. I value those runs too. Once you are set, you have to make the most of it,” Dhawan said in the mid innings break.

The 34-year-old southpaw who scored his first T20I half century for India in 14 months revealed that there is a healthy competition between himself, Rahul and Rohit Sharma for the two opening slots.

The competition is very healthy among the three openers. We three are very good friends so that makes it beautiful. We lost a lot of wickets in a bunch but after that we came back well and scored 200,” the Delhi based batsman said.

With T20 World Cup right around the corner, the Indian team management now have a headache of picking between three in-form openers in the shortest format in the matches to come in the future.

As far as the third T20I is concerned, the Men in Blue bowled out Sri Lankans for just 123 in 15.5 overs and won the match by 78 runs in Pune and sealed the series 2-0 in the three-match T20I series.
