Indian paceman Umesh Yadav reflected on his performance in the third and final Test against South Africa, saying it was really a delight to bowl fast and revel in each other’s company in Ranchi.

The just-concluded Freedom Series totally belonged to the fast-bowlers – Umesh, Mohammad Shami, and the Nagpur-lad was happy to see the way they troubled the South African batting line-up just like the overseas pacers.

Indian pacers wreaked the havoc of South Africa's batting line-up in the Ranchi as well as Shami and Yadav were the stars for the hosts having taken 5 and 6 wickets respectively to help India to win the third Test massively by an innings and 202 runs to complete a whitewash on Tuesday (October 22).

Umesh told the host broadcasters, Star Sports, “If you have pace and bounce, you can be successful at home. Earlier they said as fast bowlers, you’ve to just be ready for reverse swing after the new ball’s shine is done, to allow spinners to come in.”

He added, “But with Shami, Jasprit and I, we plan and we know how we have to go about bowling. All of us have the pace. I’m happy to see our fast bowlers are doing what overseas pacers are doing. It gives us wings.”

Meanwhile, Shami has admitted that the Indian pacers have improved over the years while saying the fitness has become a revolution in the current Indian team and the fast bowlers have taken a step ahead of the spinners by working hard and the latest Freedom Series is the evidence of that.

He explained after the Ranchi Test, “We’re always ready. We know how to bowl in Indian conditions now. We’re always prepared. The team management gives us the confidence, the fields we want. The crowds are always behind us. The focus is always on consistency. Fitness is important, that’s become a revolution in this side.”

Shami signed off by saying, “As far as confidence goes, we’ve all improved over the last four-five years. All of us enjoy each other’s success. As a fast bowler, the unit has improved. We’ve taken a step ahead of the spinners by working hard, the results are in front of all of us.”
