If Virat Kohli were to introduce an ideal points system for the inaugural World Test Championship, the Indian captain would've done so with away wins carrying double the points a home win does, he said himself prior to the start of the second Test of the ongoing series against South Africa in Pune on Thursday (October 10).
"If you had asked me to make the points table. I would have doubled the points for an away Test win," Kohli told reports. "That is something that I would have definitely liked to see but maybe after the first edition."
"The importance of every game has become that much more. In situations like a 3-match series where teams would have played for a draw, teams are now go for a win and get those extra points. I think it's great for Tests," the skipper added.

The Test championship in its current form has caused debates with each win carrying different points depending upon the length of the series. Hence, India gained 40 points for the win in Vizag while they secured 60 points for a sole victory in the Caribbean last month.
"The matches are going to more exciting. We have to be absolutely professional in every session," Virat said. "It's much more demanding on players now... which is a good thing because it will keep the standard of cricket high. These are the only things we have experienced so far when it comes to the changes in Tests after WTC."
