The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced, on August 29, the Team India squad for the upcoming 3-match T20Is series against arriving South Africa team. The series will begin on September 15 in Dharamshala.
The squad sees the selectors continuing with the players who helped the team win the T20I series in West Indies recently and this means most of the ODI regulars are missing from the squad. A big name missing from the squad was that of MS Dhoni.
Virat Kohli is set to lead the team with Rohit Sharma as his deputy. Shikhar Dhawan, Manish Pandey, Shreyas Iyer, and KL Rahul are the specialist batsmen in the team.
This series will mark the return of Hardik Pandya, who will join his brother Krunal in the squad. Ravindra Jadeja will be joined by Washington Sundar and Rahul Chahar in the spin department. Deepak Chahar, Khaleel Ahmed, and Navdeep Saini have been named to helm the fast bowling duties for the series.
The second and third T20Is will be played on 18th September in Chandigarh and on 22nd September in Bengaluru respectively. South Africa will also be playing three Tests starting from 2nd October.
