Indian captain Virat Kohli, on Friday (March 26), added another feather to his already full hat of accolades. In the second ODI between India and England being played at the MCA stadium in Pune, Kohli reached the 10,000-run milestone at the no.3 batting position.

He became only the second batsman to reach this milestone after Ricky Ponting, who has 12,662 runs at the no.3 spot. The former Australia captain, in fact, has 22869 runs at the number 3 batting position across all three formats combined.

Kohli, who was dismissed for 66 in the second ODI against England, is at 10046 ODI runs at no.3 batting spot, his tally only second to Ponting. Amongst active cricketers, New Zealand captain Kane Williamson comes next on the list after Kohli but way behind at 5421 runs.

During his knock, Virat Kohli also surpassed Graeme Smith to become the fifth-highest run-scorer as a captain in the 50-overs format during the ongoing second ODI against England in Pune. Smith has 5,416 runs as captain in ODIs for South Africa.

Kohli was playing his 94th ODI match as captain of India while Smith had got to the tally in 150 matches. Kohli reached the milestone in the 24th over of the second ODI at Pune.
