IND v ENG 2021: "I'm thinking to bring the curator to SCG," Nathan Lyon supports the Ahmedabad pitch

Lyon liked the Ahmedabad pitch and felt the criticism of the pitch is not right.

Nathan Lyon | GETTY

Australia spinner Nathan Lyon feels the criticism of the pitch used for the third Test between India and England is irrelevant. He said nobody raises the question on the pacer-friendly pitches when teams get all-out under 100 runs.

England lost the match at Narendra Modi Stadium by 10 wickets. They were bowled out for 112 and 81 in the two innings as the match ended inside two days.

"We play on seaming wickets around the world and get bowled out for 47, 60. Nobody ever says a thing (about the pitch). But as soon as it starts spinning, everyone in the world seems to start crying about it," Lyon was quoted as saying by The West Australian. "I don't get it. I'm all for it, it was entertaining."

Ex-England cricketers like Andrew Strauss, David Lloyd, and Michael Vaughan had expressed their concerns about the pitch. They felt such pitches aren't good for Test cricket.

But Lyon has a completely different opinion on the Motera pitch. He wants to get the curator to Sydney Cricket Ground. "I was up all night watching it. It was absolutely brilliant. I'm thinking about bringing that curator out to the SCG," he said.

The Aussie spinner pointed out that England misread the pitch completely and went on with four pacers in the match. "The best thing about this Test match that just passed is that England went in with four seamers. That will do me. I don't need to say any more", he said.
