Batting legend Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday (February 17) lauded Mohammed Siraj for his reaction to R Ashwin’s ton in the second Test against England at Chepauk.

Ashwin was batting alongside fast bowler Siraj when he reached the three-figure mark in India’s second innings. As soon as he completed the milestone, Siraj jumped in joy to celebrate it.

Taking to Twitter, Tendulkar wrote: “.@mdsirajofficial's reaction to @ashwinravi99 getting to his century was very interesting & I thoroughly enjoyed that. This is what Team Sport is all about.... enjoying and being a part of your teammates’ success. Proud of you Siraj & #TeamIndia!”

Tendulkar’s tweet also caught Ashwin’s attention as the off-spinner replied, stating that Siraj is a thorough team man.

“@mdsirajofficial has been nothing but a team man,” Ashwin tweeted.

Ashwin and Siraj’s partnership lasted 55 deliveries for 49 runs before the former was dismissed by Olly Stone on 106.

Thanks to Ashwin’s heroics, Team India posted 286 in their second innings, setting a 482-run target for England.

In the fourth innings, the visitors got bowled out for a paltry 164 and lost the second Test by 317 runs to leave the four-match series levelled at 1-1.
