England all-rounder Ben Stokes on Tuesday joined the unwanted list of batsmen who have been dismissed most times by Indian off-spinner R Ashwin in Test cricket.
R Ashwin has always had an edge over left-handed batsmen. The talismanic off-spinner on Sunday (14th February) became the first bowler ever to dismiss left-handed batsmen 200 times in Test cricket.
In the second Test-match between Indian and England, which Virat Kohli led Team India won by 317 runs, R Ashwin troubled England’s star all-rounder Ben Stokes and dismissed him in both the innings of the second Test match.

In the first innings, Ashwin bowled a peach of a delivery where he beat Ben Stokes in the air as the ball pitched in the middle-leg line and turned away to knock the top of the off-stump.
However In the second innings, Stokes played for the turn but Ashwin, from around the wicket, got the ball to go straight with the angle and hit the bat and then the pad before ballooning up in the air and was caught by Virat Kohli at second slip for only 8 runs.
With his dismissal in the second innings, Ben Stokes has now been dismissed by R Ashwin 10 times in Test cricket. Only veteran Australia opener David Warner has been dismissed by the off-spinner as many times.
In the four innings played by Ben Stokes in the ongoing four-match Test series between India and England, he has been dismissed thrice by R Ashwin.
