Resuming their second innings from 54/1 on Day 3, Team India lost five wickets in the first session on a turning Chennai track.

Amid the tough situation, Kohli held the one end firmly. After getting out for a duck in the first innings, the Indian captain displayed his class in the second essay as he notched up his 25th half-century in Test cricket.

Kohli batted with precise footwork and immaculate defense to combat the English spinners. His knock was laced with 7 fours. In the process, Virat also shared a 96-run stand for the seventh wicket with R Ashwin, who also hit a brilliant fifty.

Moeen Ali dismissed Kohli for 62 but not before the latter helped his team extend their lead to 397 runs.

For his stunning display with the bat, Virat Kohli garnered rich praise from the cricket fraternity on Twitter.
