England captain Joe Root liked the sportsmanship shown by the India skipper Virat Kohli on the first day of the opening Test at Chennai. Root had gone down on the ground because of a cramp and Kohli came to help him out.
The incident happened during the 87th over of the match. Root hit R Ashwin for a six on the last delivery of the over and went down on the ground with a cramp. The heat at Chennai took a toll on him as he was batting for two complete sessions after coming out just before lunch.
Kohli was seen stretching Root's leg after the latter suffered a cramp.
"It was a little bit of a cramp which was a bit frustrating. Very kind of Virat to help me out. Good sportsmanship from him as you would expect," Root said after the first day's play.

England ended the first day on 263/3 in 89.3 overs after Jasprit Bumrah removed Dom Sibley on 87. Root scored a century in his 100th Test and it was his third consecutive hundred, coming with two tons against Sri Lanka.
For India, Bumrah picked up two wickets and Ashwin got one. The pitch looked lifeless and ideal for the batsmen to bat without much trouble.
