Team India players have cleared the first round of RT-PCR tests on Thursday (January 28). There will be another two more rounds of testings before they could begin training from February 2 ahead of the first Test against England in Chennai.

The four-match Test series kicks off on February 5. Both the teams have arrived in Chennai on Wednesday (January 27) and they are staying at the Leela Palace hotel.

"The SOP is same as the IPL bio-bubble during the hard quarantine period. We have had one RT-PCR test done already and we would be doing two more before being cleared to train. Right now, the players will have to be confined to their rooms," a senior BCCI official told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

The Indian cricketers are working out in their hotel rooms under the guidance of the two strength and conditioning experts, Nick Webb and Soham Desai.

India's fast bowler Ishant Sharma, who has returned to the squad after recovering from injury, had shared a clip of sweating it out in his hotel room.

After BCCI allowed the cricketers to be accompanied by their families, vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, Wriddhiman Saha, Ishant, Hardik Pandya were spotted with their better half and kids. It will be better for the mental health of the players during the quarantine period.

"The players have all come back after a grueling tour. Hard quarantine can be extremely difficult and it would only help their well being that wives and children are around which would help them remain in a good head space," the source said.
