IND v ENG 2021: WATCH - England cricket team arrives in Chennai for the first two Tests

The players will start practice after negative COVID-19 results and mandatory quarantine.

England cricketers have arrived in Chennai on Wednesday (January 27) for a long India tour which starts with four-match Test series. The England cricket team are coming from a successful outing in Sri Lanka where they won the Test series by 2-0.

As per the reports of PTI, some of the Team India members also landed in Chennai. The players of the two teams will be staying at Hotel Leela Palace.

England cricket team flew in from Sri Lanka at around 10.30 AM. They went to the team hotel where a secure bio-bubble is created for the upcoming two Test matches, confirmed by a Tamil Nadu Cricket Association official.

Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer had already arrived in Chennai on Sunday (January 24). All the players will undergo testing for COVID-19, the TNCA official said.

India's vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane, Rohit Sharma, and Shardul Thakur had also landed in the city on Tuesday (January 26). The likes of Cheteshwar Pujara, Jasprit Bumrah, and Rishabh Pant have also reached a day after them. 

Team coach Ravi Shastri flew in from Mumbai and India's captain Virat Kohli is expected to come later on the same day too.

"They will be in quarantine for six days and are set to start practicing from 2 February," the official added.
