The BCCI managed to host the first-ever pink-ball Test match in India successful with Team India defeated Bangladesh by an innings and 46 runs. Virat Kohli shined with the bat with a sublime 136, while Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav were the heroes with the ball with 9 and 8 wickets respectively in the match.
There were many concerns around the pink ball and one thing was the visibility issue which had been brought forth by the players who had played the Duleep Trophy some time back under lights. However, BCCI asked ball manufacturers SG to improve the quality and a better version of the ball was used in the match.

Eminent commentator Harsha Bhogle talked about the difficulty of spotting the ball under lights, especially the twilight period and mentioned that when the post-mortem of the match will be performed, the visibility of the pink ball will be the main issue.
Unfortunately, cricketer-turned-expert Sanjay Manjrekar disagreed with Bhogle and mentioned that there is no such issue and it shouldn’t be discussed. Harsha further said that the players should be asked about the same, but Manjrekar retorted quite sharply that Bhogle might have questions, but for someone like him who has played cricket, it’s evident that the ball is easily visible.
Their argument can be heard here:
Harsha further said, “The only reason you need to ask is having played cricket should never be a limitation or a ceiling to learning. We would never have T20 cricket otherwise.” To which, Manjrekar said, “Point taken, don't agree.”
During the post-match presentation with Bharat Arun, Manjrekar mentioned that they have played FC cricket for 10-15 years and asked the Indian bowling coach about the texture of the ball and didn’t touch upon the visibility issue. Manjrekar had said during commentary that he doesn't consider the visibility question a question worth asking.
