Shami and Saha are the only two cricketers from the Test squad to have played with the pink ball previously.

Mohammad Shami and Wriddhiman Saha, the only two players in the current Test squad to have played with the pink ball, have shared their experience on it.

Shami and Saha have played for the Mohun Bagan team in a domestic multi-day game that was contested with a pink ball. Shami became the first bowler to take a five-wicket haul in a pink ball match in India.

He told PTI, “I’ll prefer the pink ball any day, hope this pink-ball match prospers. The best thing is you get to bowl only one session under the sun. Then the ball starts talking once the lights are on. I got reverse swing in the first innings. I think if the condition is dry, the ball will reverse. The seam usually does not remain intact after 40 overs but it’s not the case with the pink ball.

The pink ball is expected to help the seamers and the situation gets tougher for the batsmen as it was evident in almost all of the Day/Night Tests played till date. Wriddhiman Saha had a similar fate for Mohun Bagan as he was dismissed for a duck. He has claimed that it is tougher to sight the ball, especially during the twilight.

This will be a new challenge in front of us. We have not played Tests with the pink ball. I have been part of a domestic pink ball multi-day game. Challenge is there in every sport. The more you are challenged as a team, you get better and I am sure we will do that,” Saha told Times of India.

I really don't remember all of it. Shami bowled really fast and we (Mohun Bagan) won. One thing I remember is sometimes it was becoming difficult to pick the ball. Yes, sighting was a bit of a problem once the ball got old and dirty. Especially during the twilight period, it can be challenging,” he added.

The Day/Night Test at Eden Gardens starting from 22 November will be the first-ever for both India and Bangladesh.
