Indian captain Rohit Sharma was a bouquet of expressions after spinner Kuldeep Yadav made him take a DRS review purely on hope and the result of which didn’t come in India’s way leaving the Indian captain fuming in the ongoing third ODI against Australia at Chennai on March 22, 2023.
Kuldeep Yadav had bowled well to remove a set David Warner for 23 runs and got Marnus Labuschagne out for 28 runs and then castled a dangerous-looking Alex Carey for 38 runs.
Earlier, India had a chance to get Alex Carey early, who was looking dangerous and went for a flick, and missed it altogether. The ball struck his front pad and substitute keeper Ishan Kishan, captain Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli went up in a huge appeal.
The umpire gave it not out, and Rohit Sharma looked towards Kuldeep Yadav for support. However, Kuldeep had already turned his back to the captain and walked back to his mark.
Rohit decided against taking a review. But the moment he saw the replay on the giant screen, he was furious. It was very close and if he had got even a bit of help from Kuldeep, he would have gone upstairs.
Rohit was seen having a quick word with Kohli, who too seemed perplexed. Rohit then flung his hands before expressing his disappointment at Kuldeep.

After he had gotten Alex Carey out bowled with a beauty in the 39th over, he bowled well to Ashton Agar and on the last ball of the over, hit the front pad of the batter as he pushed forward to play a shot.
Kuldeep Yadav appealed intensely but the umpire didn’t give it out and then he turned towards the captain Rohit Sharma, who looked disinterested at first, but after much persuasion, gave into his demands and called for the DRS review.

Meanwhile, after the review was taken, Rohit was seen telling Kuldeep that if the review went to waste it would be on him for convincing him to go for it, but in a more colorful language in Hindi.

Replays showed that the ball was pitching on a good length around the fifth stump, and turning in, as Agar missed his push. However, the impact was outside the off-stump and hence the review was struck down.
