Star India batter Virat Kohli ended his much-awaited century drought in the longest format on Day 4 of the fourth Test against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Resuming his innings on 59, Kohli showed great composure as he notched up his three-figure mark in the second session. It was his 28th hundred in Test cricket and his first since November 2019.
After completing the ton, Virat was determined to make it a big one and he certainly made it. The former skipper went on to score 186, helping India take a crucial first-innings lead of 91 runs.
Kohli’s 364-ball marathon knock was studded with 15 fours. He was dismissed at the fag end of the day by off-spinner Todd Murphy.
As Virat Kohli was walking back to the pavilion, he was congratulated by the Australian players, including stand-in captain Steve Smith for the big knock.
