Former India captain Virat Kohli was a relieved man as he completed his 28th Test century on day four of the ongoing fourth Test against Australia at Ahmedabad on March 12, 2023. This was his first Test ton since November 2019.

Kohli had been undergoing a wretched patch, as he had not scored a Test fifty since 2022 and the Test ton against Bangladesh in November 2019 was his last international century until he scored his maiden T20I ton against Afghanistan in Asia Cup last year.

He broke his century drought in ODIs as well, against Bangladesh last year and now he has ended a three-year and three-month wait for a Test century in style as he scored a hard-fought ton against Australia as India inched towards the Australian first innings total of 480.

As Kohli flicked Nathan Lyon through the forward square and completed the single that brought up his 28th Test century, the legendary batter had a subdued celebration as he removed his helmet and held up his bat towards the Indian dressing room.

He kissed the necklace around his neck and there were expressions of a huge weight being lifted off his back.
