IND v AUS 2023: India PM Narendra Modi and his Australian counterpart to be present at toss in Ahmedabad Test

The fourth and final Test is due to get underway on March 9.

Prime Ministers of both countries will be in attendance on Day 1 in Ahmedabad | GettyThe fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia is all set to get underway at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday (March 9).

On the eve of the series-decider, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said that he and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be in attendance on the opening day of Ahmedabad Test.

In a radio interview with NOVA 93.7 Perth ahead of his ongoing visit to India, Albanese confirmed to the presenter that he and PM Modi will be at the toss.

"There is a lot of pressure on because myself and Prime Minister Modi are tossing the coin," read a transcript of Albanese's radio interview on the PM's official website.

However, the Australian PM didn’t reveal if it will be him or PM Modi who will toss the coin.

To a question by the host on "how do two people toss one coin", the Australian PM said, "I have no idea how it is going to work. But he is the home Prime Minister. So, I think he will be in charge."

Speaking to ANI, Australian High Commissioner to India, Barry O'Farrell, earlier confirmed that the Australian Prime Minister will watch the action on Day 1 in Ahmedabad along with PM Modi.

"One of the things that bind both countries is cricket and it will be great to see the leaders of India and Australia on day one of the matches in Ahmedabad," the Australian High Commissioner said.

After losing the first two Tests, Australia bounced back strongly in the third Test, beating India by nine wickets.

Despite the loss in Indore Test, India lead the four-match series 2-1 and they need to win the final Test to reach the World Test Championship (WTC) final.
