Ravindra Jadeja played a key role in India’s six-wicket victory over Australia in the second Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.

The all-rounder was Player-of-the-Match in India’s opening Test win in Nagpur last week and he carried on his brilliance in the second Test as well.

At the close of play on Day 2 in Delhi, the visitors were in the driver’s seat with a score of 61/1 and an overall lead of 62 runs. However, Jadeja spun a web around Australia with the ball in the first session on the third day, returning with a seven-wicket haul to bundle out the tourists for a paltry 113.

After the game, former India cricketer-turned-commentator Sanjay Manjrekar asked Jadeja whether playing the sweep shot was a good option against the in-form Indian spinner at the venue.

To which, the left-arm spinner replied: "Don't think the sweep is a good option against me on this kind of wicket."

During Australia’s first innings, Ravindra Jadeja had picked three scalps while he scored 26 in the only innings he batted in the Test match. He deservedly earned the second successive Player-of-the-Match award.

“I think I was enjoying my bowling. These wickets suit me because the odd ball spins and some stay low. I knew they'd play sweeps and reverse sweeps, so my idea was just keeping it simple and straight. I knew they were looking for runs, so the plan was just bowling into the stumps. If they make a mistake, I have a chance,” said Jadeja.

Coming to the match, the hosts chased down the 115-run target set by Australia in the second Test to retain the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

India have taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four-match Test series and one more victory will propel the Rohit Sharma-led side to the ICC World Test Championship final.

The third Test is slated to be held in Indore from March 1.
