Middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer, who missed the opening Border-Gavaskar Trophy Test against Australia, is all set to join the Indian squad ahead of the second Test.
Iyer was doing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) Bengaluru for his back injury, which ruled him out of the ODI series against New Zealand last month.
“India batter Shreyas Iyer has successfully completed his rehab at the National Cricket Academy following his back injury and has been cleared by the BCCI Medical Team. Shreyas will join the squad in New Delhi ahead of the second Test of the Mastercard Australia tour of India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy,” BCCI said in a statement.
Shreyas Iyer’s addition will certainly bolster the Indian batting line-up. He averaged over 60 in last year's five Tests while also smashing 422 runs and four fifties.
Having won the first Test by an innings and 132 runs, India took a 1-0 lead in the four-match Test series.
The second Test will get underway in Delhi from February 17.
