The 3rd and deciding ODI of the series between India and Australia was played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Australia won the toss and chose to bat first. They brought in Josh Hazlewood for Kane Richardson, while India went in unchanged despite Rishabh Pant being declared fit to play. David Warner fell early for 9 runs and Finch followed soon via run out thanks to a mix up with Smith for 19.
However, Steve Smith (131) and Marnus Labuschagne (54) added 121 runs for the 3rd wicket. Alex Carey made 35, but they lost the plot in the last 10 overs. Ravindra Jadeja picked 2/44 and Shami took 4/63, as Australia managed just 286/9 in 50 overs. Smith scored his first century in 3 years in ODIs, while Labuschagne hit his maiden fifty in the format.
In the chase, KL Rahul fell for 19, but Rohit Sharma hit a brilliant 119 off 128 balls with 8 fours and 6 sixes and added 137 runs with Virat Kohli. Kohli made 89 with 8 fours and added 68 runs with Shreyas Iyer, who remained unbeaten on 44 with 6 fours and 1 six.
Manish Pandey hit a four to bring India the victory by 7 wickets and the home team pocketed the series 2-1, against a formidable Australia side. Hazlewood, Agar, and Zampa picked one wicket each, while Cummins and Starc went for many runs.
The cricket fraternity was impressed by the ease with which the Indian team won the match and series and showered the side with praises on Twitter.
