IND v AUS 2019: Fifth ODI - Statistical Highlights

Australia beat India by 35 runs in the fifth and final ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi and clinched the series by 3-2. This is also their first ODI series win since January 2017. Earlier on a dry pitch Australia won the toss and opted to bat first and inform Usman Khawaja and captain Aaron Finch gave a good start of 76 runs.

Ravindra Jadeja removed Aaron Finch and got the much needed breakthrough for India. Later Usman Khawaja and Peter Handscomb added 99 runs for the second wicket and set the platform for a big score but Usman Khawaja got out after completing his hundred and Peter Handscomb after reaching his fifty. Glenn Maxwell also perished for 1 run, all of a sudden Australia were reduced to 182/4 and were in trouble but the cameos from Marcus Stoinis, Jhye Richardson and Pat Cummins helped Australia to post a good total of 272/9.

In the chase, Shikhar Dhawan started off positively and smashed two fours off Jhye Richardson's bowling but Pat Cummins sent him back to pavilion in his third over. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma took the charge to rebuild the innings and took the score to 68 and both were looking good but Marcus Stoinis broke this stand and dismissed captain Kohli for 20 runs. After that India lost the plot and kept losing wickets and were reduced to 132/6.

Kedar Jadhav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's 91 runs partnership brought India back into the game but once again Pat Cummins got the breakthrough and set the match and series for Australia. On the last ball of the match, India got bowled out for 237 runs to lose the match and series.
