New Zealand all-rounder Michael Bracewell slammed an amazing century in the first ODI against Ireland in Malahide on July 10, 2022, as he took his team from the brink of an upset defeat to an astonishing victory.
Bracewell, who made his Test debut in the series against England, in just his 4th ODI on Sunday, pulled off a miraculous chase and broke the world record during his heroics in the final over against Ireland.
New Zealand was down and out at 217/8 and still needed 84 runs to win from 44 deliveries as Bracewell was running out of partners at the other end.
But Bracewell kept going at his end and completed his maiden ODI hundred and chipped away at runs, bringing down the equation to 20 runs required off the last over with New Zealand having just one wicket in hand.

Irish pacer Craig Young tried to keep the deliveries outside the off-stump but Bracewell covered his stumps and shuffled across to play some outstanding shots. The southpaw played some gobsmacking shots in the last over as the Irish captain and bowler had no answers to his hitting.
Bracewell finished it off in style with a six-over long-on as it was a daylight robbery in Dublin. This was the first time that 20 runs have been scored in the 50th over in a successful run-chase in an ODI beating England's 18 runs against Australia in 1987.
