ENG v IND 2022: WATCH - Virat Kohli drops a sitter in 3rd T20I; Amit Mishra suggests him not to take 'added pressure'

India lost the 3rd T20I to England by 17 runs chasing 216 to win.

Former Indian cricketer Amit Mishra backed Virat Kohli to come good and suggested that he should not take added pressure after he dropped a sitter in the third T20I against England at Edgbaston.

Despite the loss in the third T20I against England, Team India bagged the series. They ticked almost every box as it was a collective effort with both bat and ball which saw them sealing the series after the second game.

However, one thing which would be concerning for them is the form of Virat Kohli with the bat. Nothing has been going right for the former Indian skipper as his dry spell with the bat continued even in the two games he played and was dismissed for low scores.

It’s fair to say that Kohli is under pressure to perform, which was quite evident even before he came to bat in the third T20I. The right-hander dropped a sitter of Liam Livingstone to invite more criticism.

It was during the first ball of the 19th over when Livingstone mistimed a pull shot off the bowling of Harshal Patel. Kohli, who at the square leg boundary, misjudged the flight of the ball, that slammed into his hands and popped out, giving the batter a reprieve.

Here’s the video:

Reacting to Kohli’s dropped catch, Mishra came out in support of his former teammate. He said that he has never seen the right-hander dropping a catch even in the nets and backed him to come out good. He suggested that the former shouldn’t take added pressure

“Never saw Virat Kohli dropping a catch even in the nets. He is a class player and today or tomorrow his form will return. He should not take this added pressure. #EngvsInd,” Amit Mishra Tweeted.

Kohli will be next seen in action when India takes on England in the ODI series, starting Tuesday (12th July). The former Indian skipper would be hoping to score some runs and prove all the critics wrong.
