After India's thrilling six-run victory against England in the fifth and final Test match on August 4, legendary cricketer Sunil Gavaskar became India's biggest cheerleader once more by joining in the festivities at The Oval.
As India tied the series 2-2 in one of the most exciting finishes in recent Test history, the former captain of India, who was on the commentary panel for the high-stakes five-match series, couldn't contain his joy.
The fifth day of cricket, following four days of intense play, started with England needing just 35 runs with four wickets remaining to reach a record total of 374 runs. Chances of an India win seemed dim as Joe Root and Harry Brook hit centuries and added 195 runs, but Indian bowlers pulled back the game in their favor by sheer resilience.
Mohammed Siraj, who had already impressed with four wickets in the first innings, returned with fire and precision to claim a five-wicket haul in the second. His effort was perfectly complemented by Prasidh Krishna, who cleaned up the tail, ending with four wickets.
Gavaskar was spotted celebrating with other commentators and team members, including Cheteshwar Pujara, who was also a member of the broadcast crew, as emotions ran high after the game.
Gavaskar once again demonstrated his unwavering love for Indian cricket by singing and dancing to the patriotic hit "Meri Desh Ki Dharti" in front of an enthusiastic audience, a moment that went viral on social media.
