Ishan Kishan | ScreengrabIshan Kishan, who is known for his batting and keeping skills, showcased his bowling talent in Jharkhand’s Buchi-Babu Invitational Tournament clash against Hyderabad on Friday (August 23).

During Jharkhand’s opening match against Madhya Pradesh, the southpaw had slammed a brilliant century to strengthen his claims for India comeback. Now, he has come in to display his expertise with the ball.

Kishan delivered two overs of off-spin where he conceded only five runs, which is not bad for a part-time bowler.

Earlier this year, Ishan Kishan hogged the headlines for not being included in the BCCI central contracts list for the 2023-24 season. He lost the annual contracts after failing to adhere to the board's mandate of playing domestic cricket when not on national duty.

Notably, the wicketkeeper-batter had withdrawn from the Test series in South Africa last December, citing personal reasons. Since then, he has not been picked in any of the Indian squads.

The 26-year-old will hope that his performances in the domestic circuit can pave the way for his India return ahead of the upcoming home season. India will play Bangladesh in two Tests and three T20Is, followed by three Tests against New Zealand from September 19 to November 5.

Ishan Kishan has played 32 T20Is so far, scoring 796 runs at an average of 25.7 and a strike rate of 124.4. In the ODI format, he has played 27 matches and aggregated 933 runs at an average of 42.4 at a strike rate of 102.2, including one hundred and seven fifties.

Kishan has also made two Test appearances, scoring 78 runs at a strike rate of 85.7 with one half-century.
