Ranji Trophy 2024: Riyan Parag slams 56-ball ton for Assam against Chhattisgarh; smacks 12 sixes in record knock

Riyan Parag made 155 runs in 87 balls in Assam's 10-wicket loss | JioCinemaRiyan Parag, captain of the Assam team, went on a six-hitting spree in his team’s recent Ranji Trophy 2024 encounter against Chhattisgarh. The match was played at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur, and saw the hosts winning by 10 wickets.

Parag had won the toss and chosen to bowl first. Thanks to 116 from captain Amandeep Khare and brilliant knocks by Shashank Singh (82) and Ashutosh Singh (53), Chhattisgarh posted 327 runs. In reply, Assam was bowled out for 159 in their first innings with Danish Alam top-scoring with 52.

Assam was made to follow on and Riyan Parag walked in to bat at 78/2 on day 4 of the encounter. Parag went after the bowling from ball one and went on record a 56-ball century to his name. He finished with 155 in 87 balls, hitting 11 fours and 12 sixes in his knock.

Assam posted 254 runs in their second innings, taking a lead of 86. Chhattisgarh chased down the target of 87 without losing a wicket and won the match by 10 wickets.

Riyan Parag’s 56-ball is the second-fastest century in Ranji Trophy history, just behind Rishabh Pant’s 48-ball ton which he scored for Delhi against Jharkhand in the 2016-17 Ranji season.
