Ranji Trophy 2022-23: Mayank Agarwal hits 249 in SF against Saurashtra, takes Karnataka to 407 in 1st innings

Agarwal hit 28 fours and 6 sixes in his 429-ball knock | SHAILENDRA BHOJAK-PTIKarnataka skipper Mayank Agarwal played a captain’s knock in their ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022023 semi-final against Saurashtra which is being played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

Saurashtra captain Arpit Vasavada won the toss and chose to bowl first and his decision proved to be correct on day one of the encounter. Saurashtra bowlers had Karnataka reeling for 112/5 at one stage with Nikin Jose (18) and Shreyas Gopal (15) being the only ones apart from Mayank reaching double digits.

But then Mayank got support from keeper S Sharath (66), with whom he added 139 runs for the 6th wicket. Karnataka ended day one at 229/5 with Mayank unbeaten on 110.

On the second day, Chetan Sakariya got Sharath out for 66 runs with Karnataka on 251 runs. Then Mayank Agarwal switched gears and went after the bowling. Vidwath Kaverappa made 15 runs, but it was Mayank all the way as he scored 249 runs in 429 balls hitting 28 fours and 6 sixes.

He was the last man dismissed getting run-out as Karnataka folded for 407 runs.

For Saurashtra, Sakariya (3/73) and Kushang Patel (3/109 were the pick of bowlers.
