Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan’s top-tier form in the ongoing Ranji Trophy 2022 continued into the final match as well, as he slammed a brilliant century against Madhya Pradesh in Bengaluru.
While Yashasvi Jaiswal had led a good platform with his knock of 78 and captain Prithvi Shaw made 47, it was Sarfaraz’s amazing knock that helped Mumbai go past the 350-run mark on a difficult pitch to bat on.
Having taken 190 balls to bring up the milestone, Sarfaraz punched the air in celebration as the ball went past the rope. It was an emotional celebration for the right-handed batter as he hit a full toss by Kumar Karthikeya right over his head and complete a brilliant milestone.
In jubilation, he slapped his thigh and took in the applause from the crowd, which resembled something similar to what late Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala did.
Sarfaraz's previous centuries this season have gone on to become big scores. He scored 275 runs against Saurashtra, 153 against Uttarakhand, and 165 against Odisha.
He was finally dismissed for 134 runs in 243 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes by Gaurav Yadav as Mumbai's first innings ended on 374 runs. He now has 937 runs in 6 Ranji Trophy 2022 matches with 4 centuries and 2 fifties at an average of 133.85.
For MP, Anubhav Agarwal picked 3/81, and Gaurav Yadav took four wickets.
