WATCH - “Worst PSL Anthem ever,” Shoaib Akhtar slams the PSL 2021 anthem 'Mera Groove'

PSL released its 2021 season anthem "Mera Groove' recently.

The anthem is called ‘Mera Groove’ and is an EDM song that shows the realities of cricket being played behind closed doors due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The HBLPSL 2021 is scheduled to be held in February and March of 2021 and has a dedicated window in the ICC Futures Tours Programme.

The tournament will feature six teams with Karachi Kings being the defending champions and Islamabad United, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultan, Peshawar Zalmi, and Quetta Gladiators being the other five teams vying for the title.

Meanwhile, much of the focus has been on the PSL 6 anthem, which features the talents of Naseebo Lal, Aima Baig, and Young Stunners. The lyrics for the EDM-anthem have been written by Adnan Dhool and the song has been composed by Xulfi.

However, former Pakistani speedster Shoaib Akhtar was not impressed with the anthem and called it the worst PSL anthem ever. Not only this he called the composers and writers of the song tone-deaf and blind and insensitive to the people’s wants.

He said that the anthem fails to catch the pulse of the Pakistani youth despite its EDM feel and including a rap part as well.
