Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers faced each other in the final of Big Bash League (BBL) 10 at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) on Saturday (February 6).
Asked to bat first, Sixers posted 188/6 in 20 overs on the back of opener James Vince’s 60-ball 95 (10 fours and 3 sixes).
Andrew Tye was the stand-out bowler for Scorchers, claiming two wickets by conceding 29 runs in his four overs. Fawad Ahmed (1-16) was also economical with the ball and chipped in with a scalp in his three overs.
In reply, Scorchers could only manage 161/9 in 20 overs. Except for Liam Livingstone (45 off 35 balls), none of the Perth batsmen managed to touch the 40-run mark.
For the Sixers, Ben Dwarshuis (3-37) picked up three wickets while Jackson Bird (2-14), Daniel Christian (2-25) and Sean Abbott (2-33) took two scalps each.
It was Sydney Sixers’ third BBL trophy and now they joined Scorchers with the most title wins.
