England all-rounder and Yorkshire T20 captain David Willey tested positive for the COVID-19. He confirmed the news on Twitter and also thanked his fans for the wishes and supportive messages.

Willey was left out of England's side and he decided to play for Yorkshire in T20 Blast. The 30-year-old had said he even turned down the offer to play in IPL for Yorkshire Vikings.

After testing positive for the COVID-19, he wrote, "Get called back up to play for @englandcricket. Get left out of @englandcricket squad. Leave the England bubble to play for @YorkshireCCC. Play two games for @YorkshireCCC. Get COVID. Lie in bed watching @YorkshireCCC & @englandcricket lose The rollercoaster continues."

Yorkshire vice-captain Tom Kohler-Cadmore, Josh Poysden, and Matthew Fisher had spent time with the Willey, and now they will have to sit out the remaining Blast fixtures.

Tweeting about the three teammates who came in his contact, Willey wrote, “Thank you for all the kind messages,” he tweeted.

“My wife and I received positive COVID test results. Gutted to be missing the remaining games. Even more devastated that having been in contact with the other three lads Sat morning (before we had symptoms) means they’re at risk and unavailable too.”
