Riding on skipper Kieron Pollard’s whirlwind 28-ball 72, Trinbago Knight Riders defeated Barbados Tridents by two wickets in the 17th game of the Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2020 in Trinidad on Saturday (August 29).
Chasing 149 to win, Knight Riders were tottering at 77/6 before Pollard took charge in his hands and made the mockery of Barbados bowlers.
The TKR captain added 31 runs for the seventh wicket with Sikandar Raza and 33 runs for the eighth wicket with Khary Pierre in double quick time to bring his team back in the contest. His knock was laced with 2 fours and 9 huge sixes.
When Pollard got ran himself out in order to farm the strike, Knight Riders still needed 8 runs off 4 balls. Pierre then cleared deep point as TKR managed to cross the line with a ball to spare.
Earlier, Barbados Tridents posted 148/7 in their stipulated 20 overs on the back of Johnson Charles’ 37-ball 47) and Kyle Mayers’ 37-ball 42.
