Saurashtra captain Jaydev Unadkat led from the front as his amazing spell in fourth innings helped his team power over a late guard of Parthiv Patel and Chirag Gandhi and propelled them into the finals of Ranji Trophy 2020.Parthiv (93) and Gandhi (96) had struck a brilliant 158-run stand to give Saurashtra a scare in their chase of 327 runs. Gujarat was 63/5 at one stage, but these two batsmen took them to 221, but then Unadkat showed his brilliance and ended up with figures of 7/56, bowling Gujarat out for 234 runs and winning the semi-final by 92 runs.
Unadkat picked 10/142 runs in the match and has 65 wickets in his bag which include seven five-wicket hauls in this domestic season. This is the second most wickets in a Ranji season and the most by a pacer in a Ranji season. He is also the third pacer after L Balaji (2002-03) and A Choudhary (2018-19) to return with seven 5-fers in a Ranji season.
Unadkat is now just behind Ashutosh Aman (68) in the all-time list of most wickets in a Ranji season.
