Saurashtra on Wednesday (March 4) defeated Gujarat by 92 runs in the first semi-final of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 and set up final clash with Bengal.
Needing 327 for victory, Gujarat were 7 for 1 at stumps on Day 4 in Rajkot and they got bowled out for 234 on the final day.
Saurashtra skipper Jaydev Unadkat, who picked up three wickets in the first innings, ran through the Gujarat batting line-up in the second essay with seven scalps to his name.
After being reduced to 63/5, Gujarat managed to recover as the duo of captain Parthiv Patel (93) and Chirag Gandhi (96) added 158 runs for the sixth wicket. But as soon as Unadkat removed his counterpart post Tea, Gujarat’s lower-order fell like a pack of cards.
The remaining three wickets in Gujarat’s second innings were shared by Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (1/47), Chirag Jani (1/33) and Prerak Mankad (1/39).
Rajkot will host the final of Ranji Trophy 2019-20 from March 9.
