Sarfaraz Khan's purple patch continued as the Mumbai youngster made yet another 150-plus score, smashing a free-flowing 177 against Madhya Pradesh to help his team post a mammoth 427-run total in the first innings of its last round-robin Elite group encounter of the ongoing Ranji Trophy season.

The 22-year-old stitched a marathon fourth-wicket stand with fellow centurion Aakarshit Gomel (122) after Mumbai found itself struggling at 71/3, following early departure of veterans Suryakumar Yadav and Siddhesh Lad.

This was Sarfaraz's third such knock of this magnitude in recent weeks after making a rare triple hundred against Uttar Pradesh, which superseded his epic double ton versus Himachal Pradesh.

Sarfaraz has worked extremely hard over his game and fitness since being dropped by IPL franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore and making a state team u-turn to Mumbai at the start of this season after finding life quite difficult with UP, to where his father wanted him to shift his base.

The right-hand batsman averages an astonishing 184.40 with 922 runs in eight innings this season, including three hundreds and two half-centuries.
