On January 23, 2020, Brisbane Heat took on Sydney Sixers at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, Woolloongabba, Brisbane in a crucial encounter for both the teams as the league nears its completion.

Sixers won the bat flip and chose to field first. They bowled with accuracy and kept the Hurricanes’ batsmen quiet throughout the innings. James Pattinson top-scored with 27, while AB de Villiers made 25 as the team crawled to 126/8 in 20 overs. Jackson Bird (2/21), Tom Curran (2/25) and Ben Dwarshuis (2/35) were the main wicket-takers for the Sixers.
