BBL 09: Dan Christian takes a jibe at Stuart Broad as Cutting stands his ground after getting caught

Ben Cutting's supposed bump ball went 50m into hands of deep point.

Bump and No Bump | BBL TwitterAustralia’s Big Bash League 2020 season has been giving highlight moments one after another and their social media game is also amazing. This came to the fore during the Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers match when Ben Cutting refused to walk thanks to a contentious call.

During the 16th over of Heat’s innings, Ben Cutting drove a full ball straight into the hands of the deep point. James Vince took a brilliant catch off Tom Curran, but Cutting refused to walk as he felt it was a bump ball. The on-filed umpires referred the decision to third umpire and replays showed that there was no bump ball and it was a clean catch, with the ball traveling 50 meters.

Cutting was given out by the third umpire and walked back. But this incident got the social media of Big Bash churning and they posted a photo of a camel, labeled ‘bump’, while the next photo was of Cutting hitting the said ball and labeled it ‘no bump’.

Bump-No bump (ball) #BBL09,” tweeted Big Bash.

The Melbourne Renegades’ stand-in captain Dan Christian also took the opportunity to take a jibe at Stuart Broad, who had famously refused to walk despite clearly edging the ball during a Test match against Australia. Christian tweeted, “@StuartBroad8 at least yours only went to slip when you didn’t walk - @Cuttsy31 just hit it 70m and stood his ground ????#BBL09

The Heat crawled their way to 126/8 in 20 overs with James Pattinson making 27 and AB de Villiers making 25 while Cutting made 17.
