BBL 09: Sydney Sixers open their campaign with a thumping win over Perth Scorchers

Sixers bowled out Scorchers for 131 and overhauled the target with 30 balls to spare.

Sydney Sixers hosted Perth Scorchers in the second match of Big Bash League (BBL) 2019 at the iconic Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday (December 18).

Asked to bat first, Scorchers posted a moderate total of 131/10 in 20 overs with contributions from Cameron Green (36 off 32 balls) and Mitchell Marsh (32 off 33 balls). Fawad Ahmed also played a valuable cameo of 9-ball 19.

Ben Dwarshuis (2/15), Ben Manenti (2/21) and Tom Curran (3/32) were the pick of the bowlers for Sixers.

In reply, Sixers rode on opener Josh Philippe’s 81 not out off 44 balls to overhaul the target in just 15 overs. Philippe’s knock was studded with 11 fours and 3 sixes.

The home team lost only two wickets in their innings and Chris Jordan (2/13) claimed both the scalps.
