Ranji Trophy 2019-20: Prithvi Shaw slams double ton in his comeback First-Class match against Baroda

The Mumbai opener overpowered the Baroda bowling attack with his classy display.

Featuring in his maiden First-Class match after serving an eight-month ban for doping, Mumbai batsman Prithvi Shaw smashed a dazzling double century against Baroda on Wednesday (December 11).

It took the youngster just 174 deliveries to complete the milestone in the ongoing Ranji Trophy clash at the Reliance Stadium in Vadodara.

Batting with positive intent, Shaw overpowered the Baroda bowling attack with his classy display. Bhargav Bhatt removed him but not before the 20-year-old smashed 202 off 179 balls.

Prithvi’s blazing knock was laced with 19 fours and 7 sixes as he helped his side extend their lead beyond 400 runs in the second innings.

In the first dig of the ongoing match, Shaw had scored 66 off 62 balls to set the tone for Mumbai’s dominance over Baroda.

Former champions Mumbai claimed a 124-run first-innings lead after bowling out Baroda for 307 in the morning session of Day 3.

In the second essay, the domestic giants were placed at 332/4 and have secured a lead of 456 runs by Tea break, with captain Suryakumar Yadav and wicketkeeper batsman Aditya Tare unbeaten on 36 and 10 respectively.
