Defending champions Australia beat Pakistan by 41 runs and registered their third win of CWC 2019 while Pakistan suffered their second loss.

Earlier on a green pitch, Pakistan opted to bowl first but their bowlers couldn't take the advantage of conditions and kept bowling with bad line and length and Aussie openers Aaron Finch and David Warner took the full advantage and added 146 runs in just 22 overs for the first wicket. Mohammad Amir broke this stand by removing Finch for 82 runs and later Steve Smith also perished off Hafeez bowling. David Warner brought up his 15th ODI hundred but he too got out after scoring 107 runs.

After 42 overs Australia were 277/4 and was also set for a big score but in the end, Pakistan bowlers made a strong come back and took 6 wickets for just 30 runs and Australia bowled out for 307 runs in 49 overs. Mohammad Amir finished with 5 wickets.

In reply, Pakistan had a bad start and lost Fakhar Zaman for a three balls duck. Imam ul Haq and Babar Azam started to rebuild the innings and took the score to over 50 runs but Kane Richardson broke this stand and sent Babar back to pavilion for 30 runs. Then Hafeez joined Imam and both the batsmen added 80 runs for the third wicket and brought Pakistan back into the match. Imam ul Haq also brought up his fifty but he couldn't convert it into a big score and got out off Cummins bowling and in the next over Finch sent Hafeez to pavilion and Shoaib Malik too perished for a two balls duck and Pakistan reduced to 147/5.

Asif Ali too struggled and got out for just 5 runs and at 160/6 Pakistan were set for a big loss but Hassan Ali and Wahab Riaz counter attacked and their innings of 32 and 45 runs respectively set the match for a tight finish. In the last 6 overs, Pakistan needed 40 odd runs and three wickets were in the hand but Mitchell Starc dismissed Wahab Riaz and Mohammad Amir in the same over and in the next over Sarfraz Ahmed got run out and thus Pakistan bowled out for 266 runs in the 46th over.
